Where to Place the Otto Weighted Tuning Forks
As mentioned in a recent post, the Otto Tuning Forks (Otto Tuners) are placed on the body and by the ears. Any weighted tuning fork can be considered an Otto Tuner however there are 4 that are used most often for healing purposes. They are the Ottos 32, 48, 64, 128. The number represents the tuning fork's frequency so Otto 128 is 128 hertz (128Hz). The Earth or Ohm Tuner is also an Otto Tuner, its frequency is 136.1hz.
Each of these weighted tuning forks are typically placed by the ears or on the body. Although I will be specific on suggesting where to place the Otto Tuners, remember that these are just guidelines or starting points. Allow your intuition to tell you where to place them.
In general, I like to place the lower frequencies on the lower part of the body. A typical session might look like this:
Otto 32
Place the Otto 32 at the bottom of the foot. If you are familiar with acupuncture points, this would be Kidney 1 (K1). Then place the tuning fork on the tips of the toes, between the toes, just below the toe nails, on either side of the Achilles tendon, the ankle area and up towards the knees.
Otto 64
The Otto 64 can also be placed at the bottom of the feet but I find it is most effective working from the knees up to the lower back. Be sure to place this fork on the thighs, hips and lumbar areas. Also try placing this fork on the shoulders and neck for pain or tightness in this area.
Otto 128 and the Om Tuner
These two forks can be placed anywhere on the body. They are especially good for relieving joint and muscle pain. Definitely use them along the spine and on joint groups like knees, shoulders etc. One very effective method for these forks is to use them together. For example, tap and place the Otto 128 on the upper spine and the Om Tuner on the lower spine. This connection between the two forks creates and alpha wave in the body which really helps to relax and heal.
Get an Acupuncture Chart
If you are still unsure or would like a visual guide, purchase an acupuncture chart and follow each of the meridians. It is the easiest way to get started and you'll always have a good session.
A Few Notes
One question that comes up is about placing tuning forks on broken bones or areas where there has been surgery. Because the weighted forks improve blood flow, they can help with the healing process but placing a tuning fork on a broken bone can really hurt. The best option would be to place the tuning fork above or below the break or surgery. For example, if you have a broken wrist, use the tuning fork on the shoulder and elbow to improve blood flow to the wrist. If you are working with someone else, ask first if they want to do this and go very slow and lightly with the fork.
