Introduction to Weighted Tuning Forks

A weighted tuning fork is also known as an Otto Tuner. Otto is short for Osteophonic; “osteo” meaning bones and “phonic” relating to sound. So weighted tuning forks or Otto tuners bring sound to the bones.

Weighted tuning forks have a round weight at the end of each prong. The purpose of the weight is to create a stronger or heavier vibration which brings a more pronounced feeling when the stem is placed on the body.

Weighted tuning forks have been successfully used to relieve joint pain as well as reduce tension in muscles and nerve groups. Research by Dr. John Beaulieu has shown that two of the weighted tuning forks, the Otto 128 and the Earth (Ohm, 136.1hz) tuner stimulate the release of nitric oxide, a gas in our blood known to reduce inflammation. Reducing inflammation helps to relieve the pain from arthritis as well as muscle spasms by improving blood flow.

The four most popular weighted tuning forks are the Otto 128, Otto 192, Otto 64, Otto 32 and the Earth or Ohm 136.1 hz tuner. The numbers refer to the frequency of the tuning fork so the Otto 128 vibrates at 128 hz.

Custom frequencies can be made however the most effective range for weighted tuning forks is from around 32 hz to 450 hz.

The weighted tuning forks can be placed anywhere on the body but each has a specific intention. These are discussed in other posts. Just search on ' Otto '.
